Want To Date A Flight Attendant? 11 Crucial Facts You Must Know

If you’ve ever wanted to date a flight attendant, know that we take dating to new heights (literally). We may be complicated but, just like anything else that is beautiful, if you can figure us out, it will be all worth it.
Read below and find out 11 key facts about what makes us tick and how to win our hearts, mind and soul.

11 Things You Must Know Before You Date A Flight Attendant

1 Quit the Small Talk
We do small talk for a living; we don’t want it when we get home. Keep us interested by being different from the hundreds of people we talk with on the airplane. Get deep and meaningful with us. We love it when someone has something different to say, or truly opens up.

2 We’re Moody After Work
Don’t take it personally. It’s not you; it’s the 14 hour shift with no sleep. We smile when we haven’t slept. We smile when we haven’t eaten. We smile when that passenger sitting in 5H just snapped his fingers at us. We smile when things don’t go according to plan on the airplane. However, we’re not smiling when we first come home. Give us time to recuperate. I promise we will be back to normal after we make quick contact with our pillow.

3 Don’t Ever Call Us Waitresses in the Sky
Quickest way to end a relationship with a flight attendant is to call us a waitress/waiter in the sky. It’s probably the most offensive thing you can say to a flight attendant. We may serve you, but that’s not what we’re there for. Six weeks of training wasn’t spent on how to serve you orange juice, it was spent learning how to save your life. Show some respect.

4 We’re On Our Own Time Zone
In our line of work every minute counts, but when it comes to sleeping our bodies don’t follow a clock. We’re constantly crossing time zones, pushing our bodies to their limits, and working to the point of exhaustion. We sleep when our bodies tell us to, not when the clock says so. In other words, don’t think we’re being lazy when we just woke up at 3 in the afternoon, we just got in from a flight at six in the morning.

5 Image Matters
We may take a little extra time getting ready, but don’t get the wrong idea we’re not being divas, it’s just a habit. We were trained on how to apply our makeup, how to do our hair, what nail polish color we’re allowed to wear, type of jewelry, style of shoes, etc. Unfortunately, this stress on appearance doesn’t just disappear. We’re in a line of business where we are used to constantly being judged on our appearance. I don’t know another job where you could get written up, and possibly fired, for not upholding certain standards of appearance.

6 That Don’t Impress Us Much
We travel the world for a living. We’ve tried some of the best foods in the world. We’ve drank some of the nicest wines in the world. We aren’t impressed easily. Not that we’re snobs, but if you’re trying to make a lasting impression taking us to McDonalds on a first date will not do the trick. You don’t have to spend lots of money, but a little extra effort and planning will go a long way. We admire those that can make the simple things glamorous.

7 Give Us Attention and Affection
We can be gone for more than half the month, sometimes eight days at a time so when we’re home we like to make up for lost time. Make every minute count. Put the worries, concerns, and problems on the back burner just long enough to let us know how much you’ve missed us (that’s one thing we’ll never get sick of hearing). Once that’s out of the way, then we can tackle the rest together.

8 Have a Bag Packed
Even though we travel for a living we still love to travel in our free time. It’s no secret that flight attendants get travel benefits; it’s one of the main reasons why we took the job in the first place. Our benefits also extend to family, friends, and our lucky partners so always have a bag packed and ready to go. You don’t have to be an experienced traveler, but having a passion to travel, or being open to the idea, is a very attractive quality. So make sure you always have a bag packed, you never know where we’ll take you.

9 Don’t Believe the Stereotypes
I get where they come from. Our job takes us all over the world. We’re constantly meeting new people. The opportunity is there, but it’s also there for everyone. Whether you’re 30,000 ft in the air or an office cubicle there’s always opportunity. Just office hook ups are more likely to turn into affairs, whereas for us it’s more likely to be a one night stand. However, I can assure you after a long duty day the last thing we want to do is get it on. We’re exhausted. We want to shower and sleep.

10 We Talk About You
Sure we love to gossip about the passengers, and complain about the changes in the company, but the number one thing flight attendants love to talk about are loved ones back home. There’s never a flight where home isn’t brought up in conversation. Flight attendants may not be homebodies, but we’re family oriented. Talking about our loved ones is our way of staying close to home, even when we’re gone.

11 Trust Goes a Long Way
If you have trust issues don’t waste your time dating a flight attendant. Your paranoia about us seeing someone else will only push us to see other people. Flight attendants need to be with someone who not only have the ability to completely trust, but who are also secure in themselves. We can’t be catering to hundreds of people on an airplane, and then to your insecurities at home. If the relationship is going to work, there needs to be trust. Besides, it’s incredibly sexy when a partner has confidence in them self and in the relationship.
