How to achieve a classic Cabin Crew look in 13 easy steps
As the Go Cabin Crew Hair and Makeup artist I have put together a few tips on an ideal classic look for cabin crew. This look is ideal for most airline cabin crew and will create a professional and elegant look too.
- Start off with a primer which should be applied to the skin to control the shine and help your makeup last longer.
- Next apply a medium to a full build coverage foundation all over the skin using a foundation brush as this will help the foundation to look even. Always remember to blend around the edges of the hairline and the chin! A beauty blender is also very good to blend the foundation and smooth it out giving it a flawless finish.
- Using a light reflecting concealer pat and blend this under the eyes to highlight the area and diminish any dark circles.
- The concealer needs to be set with powder so that it doesn’t crease or smudge under the eyes, a loose powder is great although it can be messy so a compact powder matt and the same colour as your skin complexion is ok as well as all over the face to set your foundation and matte the skin.
- Eyebrows are a very important feature of the face so they need to be outlined very slightly giving a natural contour to the face. Using an eyebrow brush and a colour to match the eyebrows most commonly a brown, this can be used to draw over your eyebrows not to go any thicker or darker but just to fill in any gaps you may have.
- Now use a primer over the eyelid to help the eye makeup last for hours as well as not creasing
- Eyelids need an eyeshadow base to even out the colour so correct the eyelid before applying any eyeshadow.
- The eyeshadow can be applied using shades of brown which can be matte or a slight shimmer as it will give a natural look. Start by putting a cream shade or a white under the eyebrow to highlight the brow bone and on the eyelid for highlighting. Then using a dark or natural brown add the colour to the edges of the eyelid and blend the colour so that you don’t see any ridges of the eyeshadow. This will look very soft and natural once blended.
- On top of the eyelid a natural eyeliner can be applied in dark brown or black to shape the eye so that it stands out. A liquid pen is ideal or even an eye liner pencil to give it an even softer finish.
- On the lower eyelid using the same brown pencil or the eyeshadow, add some colour to the edge of the eye to finish the eye and give it a slightly smokey finish. The water line can have a white or a cream shade pencil to make the eyes look bigger.
- Finish the eyes with some mascara in black or brown. Avoid waterproof mascara as this can feel very dry after a few hours.
- Now we need to add some colour to the cheeks and the best shades for this are a flushed pink or peach colour to give a fresh look to the skin. Avoid anything with bronze pigment.
- To finish off the makeup a suitable shade of lipstick to compliment your uniform can be added, this creates a classic look and a natural elegance. I also recommend a lip liner for this to avoid the lipstick from bleeding.
